Setting SNAP Network Settings¶
Encyrption¶
Synapse Wireless recommends you enable encryption within your SimplySNAP installation.
To enable SNAP Network Encyrption:
From the SimplySNAP user interface, click Config - Network Settings.
Click the Encryption toggle to shift it to Enable.
Click the Save Changes button to save your changes and exit.
When the Save Changes button is clicked, all components in your installation will be updated to the new information over the next several minutes.
Note
The factory default channel (1) and Net ID (d110) should not be used for installations. Valid channels range from 1 - 13, and Network IDs is any 4 digit combination of numbers and the letters a - f. (Excluding 0000 and ffff.)
This will encrypt all data transmitted over the air and significantly reduce the possibility of outside interference.
Enhanced CRC¶
It is also recommened that you enable Enhanced CRC to help network performance. It is enabled via the Enhanced CRC toggle switch.
To enable SNAP Network Enhanced CRC:
From the SimplySNAP user interface, click Config - Network Settings.
Click the Enhanced CRC toggle to shift it to Enable.
Click the Save Changes button to save your changes and exit.
When the Save Changes button is clicked, all components in your installation will be updated to the new information over the next several minutes.
SNAP channel¶
For maximum reliability and security, Synapse Wireless recommends you change and encrypt the default SNAP channel and network ID.
To change the SNAP channel and network ID:
From the SimplySNAP user interface, click Config - Network Settings.
Enter a new SNAP channel in the provided Channel field. Valid channels range from 1-13.
Note
For SimplySNAP installations near a strong Wi-Fi installation, Synapse Wireless recommends that you use SNAP channel 4 or 9 to minimize interference on the lighting network.
Enter a new Network ID in the Network ID field. Network IDs are any combination of numbers and the letters a- f. (Excluding 0000 and ffff.)
Click the Save Changes button to save your changes and exit.
When the Save Changes button is clicked, all components in your installation will be updated to the new information over the next several minutes.
Factory Defaulting Network Settings¶
You can reset your network settings to the factory defaults at any time by using the Network Settings to Default button.
To reset the network settings to their factory defaults:
From the SimplySNAP user interface, click Config - Network Settings.
Click the Network Settings to Default button.
Click Save Changes to complete the change, or Cancel to exit without saving.
